Today was a balancing act between personal projects and professional gigs…all under a gorgeous wildfire sky.

Installed NPM and Gulp into my portfolio project.

Light coding & relaxing by the beach. Nothing serious; just slight portfolio changes.

Found a few open issues through the Spot the Docs app (be patient; it takes a while to wake up since it’s running on Heroku’s free tier). The Girl Develop It website came up; I fixed some documentation issues and submitted a PR request that was accepted. Here’s to seeing the changes go live!

A productive Sunday. Knocked some issues out, with love.

012

Nearly finished with a client’s website. And now that I’ve got all my dev environment woes out of the way, I can resume the mad rush for gigs.

Mistakes are often made when you don’t know any better.

After creating a project page for Spot the Docs, I decided to make one for the #100DaysOfCode challenge. I chose Jekyll because of its widespread adoption and its reputation for syncing with GitHub.

It sucks to get stumped on such simple stuff. I’m studying for the LSAT and there is a definite connect between the type of logic it tests and coding. One wrong misstep can lead down a rabbit hole of bad decisions. Today was that kind of day. But at least I can take steps to see what went wrong, and where.

Setting up my dev environment has become a lot easier over the years. I remember when it used to take me an entire day. Guess practice really does make things less burdensome.

Laptop is ‘fixed’. Hardware’s good but still having some random shut off issues…thanks, Apple.

006

Still waiting for Apple to fix my laptop. The good news is I’ve been getting reacquainted with Windows’ Command Line and Notepad. Now onto Girl Develop It fixes.

005

Really need my laptop, back. Feeling like a lame duck in the water without my dev environment.

004

Finding I need to update my old systems…someone broke my most recent laptop, so I’ve been using old (very old) gear.

Coding while watching Scandal.

today was a hot day. disheartened over lack of support for 360° functionality (re: YouTube).

Now that I’ve got a homebase, it’s nice to be doing work, again. I know the pitfalls of not practicing code; the 100 days idea is great for keeping your skills up when you’re working on other projects. For now, I’m just using this as a way to improve my portfolio and resume, but I’d like to go back to my list of projects to one day build out (including Pipe Dream Tactics).
